C005 Conversations Concerning the Relationships Between Dioceses and their Province
Resolved, the House of ________________ concurring,
That each Diocese (bishops, clergy, and laity) discuss the ways it will be in relationship and support the identified ministries of the Province of which they are a part. Dioceses will offer this support to the Province through the Provincial Council/Executive Committee meetings prior to the 2027 General Convention.
Explanation
The intent of this resolution is to ask Dioceses to talk about their relationship with their Province. It is an opportunity to share the purpose and mission of the Province with those in each Diocese who have had little connection with the Provincial structure. All too often a "blanket" statement is made about Provinces; and this resolution offers an opportunity for each Diocese to look more closely at its actions and beliefs about the Provincial part of the overall structure of The Episcopal Church.
